CavsCARE’s mission is to bring quality life saving and public health education to UVA students to promote an environment of safety on and around grounds. Our primary goal is to provide American Red Cross CPR certifications to UVA students free of charge, with additional training in adjacent first aid fields, such as emergency bleeding control and opioid overdose. This process is catalyzed though collaboration with other like-minded CIOs and Organizations, serving to expand the scope and outreach of public health education on and around grounds. Our efforts additionally encourage UVA students to expand their own education and abilities in the field of public health and first response and provide a method for career development.

CavsCARE was founded by a group of UVA EMT’s and AEMT’s passionate about pre-hospital care and public health education. With the support of the Thomas Jefferson Emergency Medical Services Council (TJEMS), CavsCARE was able to immediately begin teaching CPR classes, beginning with UVA students and expanding to Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall and beyond.
